10 Things Your Children's Minister Does Not Want To Hear
Another CM sent this to me. I laughed at every one of them. If I had to pick… the only one I have never heard someone say to me is number five. Sis. Kassie has always been great about sharing.
I must say before you read them… Life Tabernacle is the BEST church. We have the BEST kids and the BEST parents! Enjoy!
The Top Ten Things Your Children’s Minister does not want to hear.
10.) But we’ve been doing it this way for over 30 years.
9.) Whose Larry the Cucumber?
8.) After church lets out, I need to talk to someone; just keep my kids in children’s church for a while until I get back. (This one should have made the top five for sure!... a favorite of my church family! lol)
7.) I’ll bet you enjoy this as much as the kids do.
6.) I don’t think anyone will mind if worship service is a few minutes late.
5.) Choir members shouldn’t have to work in children’s church.
4.) What do you do with ‘all that’ money anyway?
3.) When I was growing up in church we didn’t need all that ‘stuff’.
2.) You’re disturbing the MAIN service.
1.) Do you think you’ll have a real ministry someday?

A Little Late... But Still Made It!
I dedicate today’s post to Tammy. :o) Why? Because the first event happened just last month! (I tossed it in today just for you.)
First we start of with a visit to the Lighthouse Ranch. Jason, Julie, & I were able to visit and spend the afternoon with David. He gave us a tour of the grounds then we spent the day just ‘hanging’ out and being together. He missed Brandon but the Lighthouse policy is that only Parents/Guardians may visit residents. Due to the special nature of our family’s circumstance, they made an acceptation for Julie.
I tossed in one picture of the 23 mile bridge leaving New Orleans. It was really something. I would have loved to get more shots of New Orleans than I did- which was none- but the city was right in the middle of Mardi Gras. It was impossible to convince my brother and sister-in-law- who are both more Godly than I- to go into the mêlée.
Next I have shots of the Birthday meal I prepared for the ‘guys.’ Our meal consisted of Medallions of Pork Veronique in a Cherry marinade over a bed of Bread Dressing with Garlic Spiced Potatoes and Sautéed Grapes. For dessert we had Homemade Apple Pie.
Finally you get just a few shots of little Joe’s birthday party. Enjoy!

The Great State Fair Of Texas
I LOVE the State Fair. It has become on of my favorite things to do within the fall season. The Texas State Fair is among the very best. If you have yet to go I would advise you do so.
For me, the best time to go is during the Cotton Bowl. You spend the day at the Fair while the sounds of football and wild screaming fans are heard across the park. It just adds to the experience.
Of course no State Park experience is complete without food! No matter what 'new' thing they come up with- and they are trying new things every year- the best food (and one that originated at the Texas State Fair) is the corn dog. The only place to get them is the Flecther Corny Dog stand right outside of Big Tex. (Be prepared to wait) Flecther Corny Dogs were invented by Carl and Neil Fletcher in 1938 and have become a sensation the world over. Every food vendor on the grounds is hoping to find another.
This past year we went with Lynn & Kim, Kassie & Priscilla, and Shane & Amanda. Enjoy the pics!

Kids Kids Kids
Today you get to see pics of my kids... I haven't shown kid pics in some time.
I start out with pics from school. I teach Special Education students who are all in the regular educational setting with accommodations. Most of them have, in my opinion, a primary disability that lasts from 8:30 am - 3:30 pm. In other words, if you were to see these kids outside of school you would never know they have problems in school.
The problem comes when we try to fit them into the same square hole that all students are shoved into. Most of them eventually go in because children, like us, are adaptable. A few of them just are not able to make it no matter how hard we try or how hard they try. So what do we do? We make learning the way it should be for everyone.
Reading Comprehension activities are taught by reading the directions and putting together an indoor planting cart. Measurement and Life Science are taught through actually measurement of observable results and touchable changes that take place before our very eyes. For some strange reason, most of these incapable students with disabilities so severe they cannot sit still or even function in the regular educational setting, flourish.
The second part of today's slide has pictures from x-treme- our Sunday morning Children's Church. We started our Children's services about six months ago.
First, we stopped Sunday School for our children for about six months and did just a Children's Church. This allowed us to gain momentum and 'get out of the box.' So many times we get stuck in the box- doing the same thing we have always done. Sometimes you just need to do something different just because.
Next, we reopened our Sunday School classes and held x-treme during our morning worship service. This last step has seen the biggest change. Knowing that x-treme is now their Sunday morning church service has given the kids more of sense of ownership in what happens each morning. Our altar calls and worship have really picked up and I cannot wait to see what will happen in the coming services. Soon we will have our very own room and I think that will only add to what has already been taking place.
There are also a few shots of 'ondeck', our pre-service area and our last 'x-kids' mission. Enjoy.

Sixty One Days...
First things first- No, I didn't Internet fast for sixty-one days!
So many things have been happening since the beginning of this brand new year. We have had seven people receive the Holy Ghost and/or be baptized just since last Sunday alone! Last night was such an incredible service- walls fell in Wichita Falls. For some, the service lasted till almost midnight. I could say that I am excited or overjoyed but those words just seem a little absent of what I really feel. So... I will start somewhere else!
Back in December I promised a 'sweeps' week and then it was cancelled due to the Internet fast. So in honor of Spring Break- and my probably dead blog- I am starting out with pictures! Yeah!
Today I am giving you a slide show of pictures from Christmas & Thanksgiving. As I uploaded them I noticed that most of them are about food! lol Go figure!
I started with the Progressive Christmas Party that was hosted by myself, The Duttons, The Mercers, and Kassie & Priscilla. This year Lynn & Kim had the Appetizers, The Mercers & Priscilla hosted dinner, while Kassie & I put our differences aside (lol) and hosted dessert.
Later on you get pictures of Thanksgiving & Family time. Enjoy!
